Important wine appelations

We curently curate wines from Lechința, Transylvania, and Dealu Mare, Muntenia.

Lechința

The Lechinţa wine region is located in the hilly area between the Someşul Mare and Mureş rivers in the northeastern part of the Transylvanian Plateau, extending around the 47th parallel. Vineyards are planted mainly on south-facing slopes at elevations of 300–500 meters, where the terrain provides good sunlight and protection from wind and frost. The soils are highly diverse, dominated by brown eumezobasic and brown argilo-iluvial types, with moderate acidity and good humus content, well suited for viticulture. The climate is temperate continental, with cool multiannual average temperatures around 8°C, warm days and cool nights in the ripening period (about 23°C by day and 12°C at night), and high autumn humidity that supports slow maturation and aroma preservation. These conditions favor white and aromatic varieties traditionally grown in the region, noted for their freshness, acidity, and pronounced varietal character.

Dealu Mare

Dealu Mare, located in the Subcarpathian Hills between the Teleajen and Buzău rivers, is one of Romania’s most compact and historic wine regions, covering about 15,000 hectares. Its terrain offers predominantly southern exposures and diverse soils—from iron-rich red clays in the west, ideal for red varieties, to limestone-based rendzinas in the east that support aromatic whites. Protected by the surrounding hills, the region benefits from mild winters, abundant sunshine, and a warm, stable climate that ensures excellent grape ripening. These conditions make Dealu Mare especially renowned for high-quality red wines such as Fetească Neagră, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, alongside expressive whites grown on calcareous soils.
